International Steering Committee of the GGSY will have persons of prominence who have extensive experience in their respective fields. They will be driving the entire yatra towards achieving its vision and objectives. International Steering Committee will be responsible for driving and guiding the public movement towards its vision and objective.


Dr. Anil Kakodkar (Chairman)

Ex-Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission of India

Dr. Anil Kakodkar is an Indian Nuclear Physicist and Mechanical Engineer. He was the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India and the Secretary to the Government of India. He was also the Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre He was awarded Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honor, on 26 January 2009.



Dr. Devang Vipin Khakhar

Director, IIT Bombay

Dr. Devang Vipin Khakhar is an Indian Chemical Engineer and the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He serves on the Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India (SAC-PM), Scientific Advisory Committee of the Cabinet (SAC-C), Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).



Shri. Anand Kumar

Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

Shri. Anand Kumar, Kerala cadre IAS officer (1984 batch), is currently serving as the Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Shri. Kumar has also served as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Tourism and as the Managing Director, National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.



Shri. Gireesh B.Pradhan

Ex-Chairman, Central Electricity Regulatory Committee

Gireesh B Pradhan served as the chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. He was promoted as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Power and later took over charge of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. He has been responsible for several crucial reports on the power sector.



Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta

Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta is a scholar in the area of grassroots innovations. He is the founder of the Honey Bee Network and has been a Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Besides, he holds the Executive Vice Chair of the National Innovation Foundation. He is also a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science. He was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2004, for his contributions to management education.



Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar

Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Vidyapeeth

Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar is a renowned name in academics. Prior to his present assignment as Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith, founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920, he was working as Director of the Centre for Social Studies, Surat. He was also the Director of Gujarat Institute of Development Research.



Prof. Deepak B. Phatak

Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

Prof. Deepak B. Phatak is an Indian Computer Scientist and Academic, and a recipient of the Padma Shri Award for his contribution in science and technology in 2013. He has been a consultant and adviser to many organizations on various issues related to Information Technology. He was listed among fifty most influential Indians, by Business week in 2009. He received the 'Excellence in Teaching' award of IIT Bombay and the IIT Bombay Industrial Impact award.



Shri. Ajay Kumar

Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs

Shri. A. Ajay Kumar, Indian Foreign Service, 2001 Batch, is currently Joint Secretary, Development Partnership Administration Division at Ministry of External Affairs. He was previously India's Ambassador to Iraq and has also held the position of Counsellor at India's mission in Tehran.



Shri. S.C. Barmma

Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture

SC Barmma, 1987 batch Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. He was formerly working as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Justice.



Dr.Venkat Rajaraman

CEO, Cygni Solar

Venkat Rajaraman is the CEO of Cygni and an Advisory Committee member of National Center for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE), India. He has over 20 years of experience in System design and Engineering Management. Prior to joining Solarsis, he was the CEO of Su-Kam Power Systems, leading power back-up and renewable energy solution provider from India.



Dr.Ratan Sharda

Chief Consultant, Eastern Software Systems Pvt. Ltd

Mr. Ratan Sharda serves as Chief Consultant of Eastern Software Systems Private Limited. Mr. Sharda has a rich industry experience of over 27 years. Ratan Sharda is also a freelance columnist, author, and editor. He also translates books in Hindi and English. He has written ‘Secrets of RSS’ which is in second edition and biography of Prof. Rajendra Singh in Hindi.



Prof. Pradipta Banerjee

Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

Prof. Pradipta Banerji is a former Director of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee a post he held from October 2011 to October 2017. He also was Professor of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay and at IIT Roorkee.



Shri. Vinit Goenka

Member, Governing Council of CRIS

Shri Vinit Goenka has proven expertise in various fields, in particular, information technology, transportation & infrastructure, and agriculture. He is a Member of the Governing Council of CRIS – Centre for Railway Information System, an organization under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Shri Goenka was appointed a Member of the IT Task Force in the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India.



Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran

Professor, IIT Bombay

Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran is an Associate Professor at the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at IIT Bombay. His interests are in operations research, supply chain management, and simulation. Prof. Jayendran is also the Principal Investigator in the SoULS initiative at IIT Bombay, which aims to provide solar study lamp to every child in rural India as part of its ‘Right to Light’ mission and works on operational excellence and research.



Prof.Chetan S. Solanki(Secretary)

Professor, IIT Bombay

Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki is a Professor at the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay known for his remarkable work in Solar Sector. He is currently leading two projects of national importance on the dissemination of affordable solar technology - NCPRE and SoULS Initiative.
